Maintain correct joint phasing
Always keep universal joints correctly aligned and parallel to prevent vibration and premature wear.

Lubricate at regular intervals
Apply grease routinely to all grease nipples on the PTO shaft. While driveline joints are easily lubricated, splined sections must be greased separately using a grease gun.

Inspect telescopic movement
Before each operation, confirm that the telescoping sections slide freely without binding or resistance.

Secure the safety chain properly
Attach the external safety chain firmly to both the tractor and the implement to prevent the PTO guard from rotating during operation.

Check yokes and bearings for wear
Inspect all yokes, bearings, and cross kits for signs of excessive play, cracking, or deformation.

Verify locking mechanisms
Ensure the spline locking pin or collar spring functions correctly and securely locks the shaft in position.

Confirm overload protection is installed correctly
If equipped, make sure the shear bolt or slip clutch is properly mounted and adjusted according to specifications.

Operate within rated limits
Use the PTO shaft only within its designed speed and power range. For HZPT compact tractor applications, the recommended operating speed is 540 RPM.

Avoid excessive lubrication
Over-greasing can attract dust and debris, accelerating wear instead of preventing it.

Keep the shaft clean
Periodically clean the PTO shaft using penetrating oil to remove dirt, rust, and contaminants.

Check drawbar and attachment clearance
Ensure drawbar pins and implement components do not interfere with or damage the PTO shaft or its protective guard.

Replace worn or damaged shafts immediately
If any component shows signs of fatigue or damage, replace the complete PTO shaft without delay. Partial repairs may compromise safety.

If you are uncertain about correct PTO shaft installation or maintenance, consult HZPT or a qualified agricultural service technician. For safety reasons, we supply complete PTO shaft assemblies only and strongly recommend timely replacement to avoid operational risks.
